Informal Policies
These are informal policies that we have been told exist or have inferred must exist
Only use high-visibility (continental) crosswalks over higher-speed roads (probably >=30mph or >=35mph). Use transverse line crosswalks for side streets of these higher-speed roads. When bike lanes are painted on a road, end the bike lanes somewhat before a major intersection. End the lanes on both sides even if there is space for a bike lane in one direction and sharrows in the other. Charlotte Lester at CVPDC said that there are only certain "shapes" or "geometries" that the city can do by itself without hiring a consultant. Where are these geometries defined and what qualifications are needed to do other geometries? Green book thing? Use UrbanSDK vehicle speed data to see where people are speeding
