Informal Policies
These are informal policies that we have been told exist or have inferred must exist
- Only use high-visibility (continental) crosswalks over higher-speed roads (probably >=30mph or >=35mph). Use transverse line crosswalks for side streets of these higher-speed roads.
- When bike lanes are painted on a road, end the bike lanes somewhat before a major intersection. End the lanes on both sides even if there is space for a bike lane in one direction and sharrows in the other.
- Charlotte Lester at CVPDC said that there are only certain “shapes” or “geometries” that the city can do by itself without hiring a consultant. Where are these geometries defined and what qualifications are needed to do other geometries? Green book thing?
- Use UrbanSDK vehicle speed data to see where people are speeding
